The Ones Who Stay

Work in Progress

Life doesn’t stop when the shift ends. Some of the heaviest moments come at home, in the quiet, in the middle of the night.

This story is about the officers who keep showing up, the families who wait, and the ones who stay.

About the Author

✦

Steven Rousell is a corrections officer, husband, father, and outdoorsman who writes from real-life experience and from the people and lessons that have shaped him.

His books explore what happens behind the walls, what follows officers home, what families carry beside them, and how faith, accountability, brotherhood, and second chances can change a life.

When he is not writing or working, Steven can usually be found with family or outdoors hunting, fishing, and spending time in New York's North Country.

Life on the Farm

✦

Home life beyond the pages—family, animals, the land, hunting, growing food, and the changing North Country seasons.

Home is where life slows down. Beyond the prison walls and beyond the pages, there is family, animals to tend, gardens to work, hunting and fishing, changing seasons, and the ordinary moments that matter most. Life on the farm is part of what keeps everything grounded—and many of those quiet moments find their way into the heart of the stories.

What Should I Write Next? Your Ideas, Future Stories

I’ve shared stories about corrections, family, faith, second chances, and life beyond the badge—but there are still a lot of stories left to tell.

Now I’d like to hear from you.

Send me your thoughts below. I can’t promise every suggestion will become a book, but I’d love to know what my readers want to read next.
